Rafał Kaczmarkiewicz was born in 1958, in Poznań. In 1989 he received permission of The Ministry
of Culture and Art in Warsaw to perform the occupation of painter. Since 1989 he is a member of WIELKOPOLSKA,
the Association of Polish Artists and Graphics in Poznań. He expresses his realtionship to the world
in various painting techniques such as oil, acrylic, watercolour, gouache and drawing.
The artist's works are in private and state collections of many countries.
So far he has many individual exhibitions and took part in several dozens of international, national
and environmental exhibitions, including:
- 1988 – „Zachęta” – Warszawa – „Żołnierska powinność”;
- 1989 – National Museum in Poznaniu – „Drogi do niepodległości”;
- 1989 – Breda – The Netherlands – „Martwa natura w Europie Wschodniej”;
- 1990 – Zamek Książąt Pomorskich – Szczecin – XV Festiwal Polskiego Malarstwa Współczesnego –
„Rozdroża malarstwa”;
- 1990 & 1991 – CBWA – Poznań – XXI i XXII Wystawa pokonkursowa im. Jana Wronieckiego na grafikę i rysunek
roku;
- 1999 - BWA – Piła – „Rysunek, malarstwo i grafika” – SPAMiG;
- 2000 – Modern Art. Museum – Radom – III Triennale Autoportretu Radom 2000;
- 2003 – Salon Posnania – Poznań w grafice – „Od grawiury do klawiatury” ;
- 2007 – Salon Posnania –„ Dwa oblicza artysty” individual exhibition.
„The stylistic painting of Rafał Kaczmarkiewicz should be assigned to one
convention of the late Polish colourism. In that time he developed his unique
language of artistic expression by involving the use of a clear tone and brightness
and on an image building, based on strophic structure, which are based on bandwidth
and planes running horizontally (e.g. urban landscapes)"
